There has been some discussion about taking this page down since we lost Jack in August 2007. Jack has remained fond in our memories and will always be so. his effect on us remains. Boots became so depressed after Jack died that we were afraid for his health, so we reluctantly started looking for a suitable playmate for him. Her name is Lady and we have built a new page off of this one for her and Boot's antics.
These are pictures from the first Month of Boots invading Jack's turf. Notice that Jack was a real trooper, he thought that he could rein over the back yard with impunity, yea right Jack.
Then Boots started to grow up. He figured out a way to send Jack into ballistic mode, he broke out the "cute" card to get family and friends attention. Here is the proof, a more photogenic dog would be hard to find.
Jack struck back though, and taught Boots something that seems is very important to the canine species, how to sleep in a way that will cause the human species to worry about the sanity of the canine. Boots was a fast learner.
After teaching Boots the important lessons on sleep, Jack then had the opportunity to show Boots advanced social skills when we had to leave the area because of Hurricane Rita in the fall of 2005. David (Lori's Cousin) and Tracy in San Antonio took us in while we waited to find out if our house would become kindling. We are still thankful for their generosity, but Jack and Boots owe them a debt of gratitude for allowing them to practice their social skills. As you can see Jack elevated the art of begging to a whole new plateau. Boots just did his "cute" thing and all was harmonious.
Jack and Boots enjoy being photographed, most of the time. When we catch them off guard they have a tendency to strike back in various ways. Here are a few pictures that did not fit into any particular category, except "Hah caught you Looking". You will notice the pictures of Jack and Boots giving their editorial comments about having their pictures taken. Most of these pictures were taken in January 2007.
Don't worry Jack still maintains his spot as most huggable.
When we get Jack and Boots outside for play time we are never sure what new schemes they have come up with since the last time. Jack and Boots have a pet Squirrel that they chase around the trees (yes Trees), someday I will get a picture of him. The scene unfolds something like this. Open the door, the two of them shoot out the door like rockets, you walk leisurely to the back yard, Jack and Boots are running around in circles barking, the squirrel is right above them squeaking at them, Jack runs to one corner of the yard, Boots runs to the other corner of the yard, the squirrel does that circle by the ear motion letting me know that the two of them have gone crazy. Jack then gets a running start and tries to climb the nearest tree, Boots does likewise, the squirrel watches the show until he gets bored and then goes away. Jack and Boots then are ready to play catch and keep away with me.
We saved these two pictures for last. Our veterinarian keeps talking about the fact that whenever Jack visits his breathe sometime smells like Nacho Cheese, I think he suspects something, but Jack isn't talking.
